Perth naturopath Tara Ross can help to optimise your fertility to increase your chances of falling pregnant.

  • I understand that every couple is unique in their fertility health needs. You or your partner may have, been diagnosed with specific male and/or female factor fertility issues, endured recurrent miscarriages, or been told you have ‘unexplained’ infertility.

As a naturopath, I can help you and your partner identify and treat the specific cause/s of your fertility issues, so you can increase your chances of conceiving.

  • Male factor fertility issues

Male factor fertility issues are frequently overlooked, even though they account for at least 30% of sub-fertility issues.

A semen analysis that measures sperm count, motility, morphology, and DNA fragmentation can quickly identify if male factor fertility issues are present, which can often avoid putting women through the risk and discomfort of expensive and invasive investigations like surgery.

It is also important to realise that whilst you may have been told by a fertility clinic that your sperm count, motility, and morphology levels are suitable for IVF/ICSI, they may not be sufficient for natural conception.

A sperm cycle is approximately 74 days long, and sperm quality can improve in this short amount of time with diet and lifestyle modifications, as well as nutritional and herbal medicine, if required.

    Female factor fertility issues

Causes of fertility issues in women can be multi-factorial and can include:

    • ovulation issues

    • endometriosis

    • thyroid issues

    • uterine fibroids

    • blocked fallopian tubes

    • cervical mucus issues and anti-sperm antibodies.

  • If you are undergoing IVF or another assisted reproductive technology treatment, a naturopathic treatment plan can help to improve your success rate by:

    • improving egg and sperm quality

    • preparing your uterine lining for implantation

    • supporting your nervous system and adrenal function to manage stress

    • supporting your immune system and decreasing inflammation to reduce the risk of implantation issues

    • supporting thyroid and mitochondrial function to help your fertilised eggs to have the energy they need to become viable for implantation.

As a naturopath, I have undergone extensive training in how to safely use naturopathic principles in conjunction with IVF or other assisted reproductive technology treatments.

  • If you are planning a pregnancy, you can give your baby the best possible start in life with a preconception treatment plan.

Egg and sperm health are of equal importance in both increasing your ability to conceive and reducing your risk of miscarriage. Therefore, it is essential that both partners participate in every step of the preconception process.

The preconception process should ideally begin at least three months prior to trying to conceive. This allows adequate preparation time for both partners to optimise egg and sperm quality by:

    • correcting nutritional deficiencies

    • improving diet

    • reducing toxin exposure

    • achieving healthy body composition

    • reducing stress levels

By improving egg and sperm quality, a preconception treatment plan can help to:

    • improve your ability to conceive naturally

    •  increase the success rate of IVF and other assisted reproductive technology treatments, such as egg retrieval and IUI

    •  reduce your risk of miscarriage

    • increase the likelihood of a healthy, complication-free pregnancy.

  • As a menstruating woman, your fertility window is limited to just a few days before, and the day of ovulation.

Many women do not have a ‘normal’ 28-day cycle, with ovulation at Day 14. Cycle length can vary a lot among women and often within women themselves. This makes it difficult for women with longer or shorter than average, or irregular cycles to know when they are about to ovulate.

As a naturopath, I can teach you how to chart your menstrual cycle to pinpoint your most fertile days, helping take the stress out of knowing when to try to conceive.
